Artist Statement
Alex’s current practice explores the human form as a framework to uncover themes of identity, self expression, and self worth. With a mixture of different media, he explores the figure through both representational and non-representational expression, creating a wide variety of works all existing in relation to each other. Alex’s use of vibrant colours and abstraction create an interplay between the image and its themes, which ground his work in the human experience. He has been exploring cubism as a way of venturing further into the abstract, and is now interested in experimenting with non-representational ways of creating. Through sharing his perspective and personal history in his art, Alex encourages people to reflect on their pasts, and engage in an examination of the intricacies of oneself.
